A Homecoming: OpenWalls Spotlight 2026
I’m pleased to share that I’ve been selected as one of the winners of OpenWalls Spotlight 2026, an international photography award run by the British Journal of Photography in collaboration with WePresent and Galerie Huit Arles. The award celebrates emerging and established photographers whose work responds to this year’s theme, Homecoming, which explores ideas of return, belonging and the emotional landscapes that shape who we are.
I reworked my Queer Journeys Through Suburbia work, a kind of distillation of the original presentation that I'm very happy with. This is how I framed it:
Rewalking and photographing routes first mapped through Grindr’s GPS, alongside chat traces and performative self-portraits, the work becomes a homecoming that brings queer presence into suburbia
My work will be exhibited at Galerie Huit Arles this July, shown alongside Les Rencontres d’Arles, one of the world’s leading photography festivals. The exhibition brings together a powerful selection of images from around the world, each reflecting on what it means to come back to a place, a memory or a version of oneself.
I’ll be heading to Arles in early July for the opening, and I’m genuinely excited to see the work installed in such a historic and vibrant setting. OpenWalls has a reputation for spotlighting thoughtful, boundary‑pushing photography, and it’s an honour to be part of this year’s group.
